Covid Information

For in person appointments, patients will need to go through COVID checkpoints at the Royal Melbourne Hospital via the RMH carpark, the front entrance on Grattan St, or the Melbourne Private Entrance off Royal Pde. Office Hours

Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. If you have an urgent neurosurgical issue outside of these times, please call the Royal Melbourne Hospital on (03) 9342 7000 and ask to page the Neurosurgery Registrar or come straight to the Emergency Department at RMH or your local hospital.


Parking can be quite difficult around the area at peak times. There is a carpark at the Royal Melbourne Hospital - enter off Royal Parade between the Private Medical Centre and University High School oval. There is also the Royal Women's Hospital car park off Flemington Rd as well as various commercial car parks in the area. For short appointments 1 hour there may be street parking available around Royal Parade or Story St. Please allow plenty of time to find parking prior to your appointment time.

Tram & Train

From Flinders Street Station take the number 19 (North Coburg) or 59 (Airport West) tram along Elizabeth Street. From Flagstaff Station, take the number 55 (West Coburg) tram along William Street. Tram 19 stops right outside the Private Medical Centre on Royal Parade (1st stop after Grattan St). Trams 55 and 59 stop at the corner of Grattan Street and Flemington Road and it's then a 200m walk around to the Private Medical Centre via Royal Parade, or through the Royal Melbourne Hospital.


Lines (205, 401, 402, 546) provide easy access to The Royal Melbourne Hospital, with bus stops on Royal Parade (opposite Melbourne Private Hospital), Grattan Street and Swanston Street.
